Of HAND & HEART Art Gallery is located in Warkworth, 45 minutes north of Auckland, New Zealand. It is owned and operated by myself, Rick Urban, a potter from the United States and my wife, Mio Endo, an art tutor who is originally from Japan.

Before moving to New Zealand and opening “Of Hand & Heart” in 2006, Rick, an American who gave up a career as an art director at advertising agencies in New York and London started his first pottery & ceramics gallery “The Mountain Pottery” in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina in the U.S. in 1979.

At first located in “The Old School” on Route 441, in1984 he moved to the nearby charming village of Dillsboro where he sold pottery from over 65 different clay artists in addition to his own pots made in the studio section of the gallery.

Rick and his wife, Mio Endo immigrated to New Zealand after vacationing there and in 2006 opened “Of Hand & Heart” in Rotorua.

In 2009 they relocated the gallery to the small town of Warkworth where they took over the gallery “Arts Desire” and broadened the range of art, pottery & ceramics on display.
